7: Controlling your Character in Caregiver VR
Overview
As a guest in Caregiver VR, you will have the opportunity to play 3 different roles, “Student”, “Spectator” and “Role-Player”.
Student
When in the Classroom, you are a Student. You will remain seated in a chair and have full control over you upper body. You will also have access to the “Student Menu.” You can perform various actions on the Student Menu by aiming your controller at the different buttons and pulling the right trigger button. By using the student menu, you can raise your hand, give a thumbs up, mute and unmute yourself.
Spectator
When in either the Patient Room or Homecare Room, you are the Spectator (unless selected to be the Role-Player by your instructor). As a spectator you are invisible to everyone else and are free watch others as they are roleplaying. Spectators can:
Right Thumbstick (Left and Right): Turn your character
Left Thumbstick (Forwards and Backwards): Move forwards and backwards.
Right and Left Triggers (Pulled) Move up and down.
Roleplayer
Before becoming a Role-player, it is recommended to spend a few minutes in the practice experience first so you can get the hand of it.
When in either the Patient Room or Homecare Room, if you are selected to be one, you will be the Role-Player. As a Role-Player you can take on an active role in the experience, roleplaying as either the patient or caregiver. As a Role-Player you can:
Talk (no action required, just speak)
B Button (Pressed): Calibrate Character
Right Thumbstick (Left and Right): Turn your character
Aim and Right Thumbstick (Pressed forward): Teleport to targeted location
Aim and Right Thumbstick (Pressed forward and aim at chair): Sit in chair
Aim and Right Thumbstick (Pressed forward and aim at ground.): Get up from chair
Right and Left grip buttons (Pressed): Grab objects
Right and Left grip buttons (Released, when holding object): Drop objects
Left Thumbstick (Up, Down, Left and Right): Select expression
Left Trigger (Pulled): Lock in expression
Left Thumbstick (Pressed): Reset expression
